2024 DIII Analytical All American and All Region Teams

Hansen Ratings, the premier provider of Division III college football ratings since 2014, is proud to announce the release of its 8th annual 2024 Division III Football Analytical All-American and All-Region teams.

The All American teams are led by players of the year Offensive MVP QB Aaron Syverson of St. John's, Defensive MVP LB Durand Hill of Mary-Hardin Baylor, Special Teams MVP K/P Daniel Cunningham of Denison, Freshman MVP K/P Ethan Brumgard of Hardin-Simmons, and Coach of the Year Sherman Wood of Salisbury.

Aaron Syverson had an outstanding final season for the Johnnies, leading the country in passing yards and TDs, ranking second in the country in my opponent-adjusted passing efficiency. Syverson narrowly edges out Gagliardi winner Luke Lehnen for the award due to his outstanding usage rate, maintaining his outstanding efficiency with over 170 more dropbacks.

Durand Hill earned National Defensive MVP by leading a Crusader defense that ranked as the second-best rush defense and best pass defense in the country. Durand was also among the most dynamic defensive playmakers nationally, tallying 13 TFLs, 5.5 sacks, 4 interceptions, 7 PBUs. 2 forced fumbles, and 4 fumble recoveries.

Daniel Cunningham had a remarkable season in 2024. He did it all for the Big Red on special teams, and he excelled at everything, too. Daniel had the sixth-best net punting average in the country, had the sixth-best depth-adjusted field goal accuracy, and the second-best net kickoff average.

Ethan Brumgard becomes the first special teams player to earn the honor of Freshman MVP. Similarly to Daniel Cunningham, Ethan provided value for the Cowboys punting, on scrimmage kicks, and on kickoffs. Ethan was the second-most valuable kickoff specialist in the country, averaging 14 yards of field position above replacement for the Cowboys every kick.

Sherman Wood led the Gulls to a 12-1 mark this season, earned one of the top 4 seeds in the national tournament, a #5 finish in the AFCA Top 25 poll, and a #6 ranking in the final d3football.com Top 25. Salisbury made tremendous strides from their 6-4 finish one season ago, defeating multiple Top 25 teams, and finishing the year as the most improved team in the country.

The Hansen Ratings All American and All Region teams are determined by mathematical formula. Players are awarded for efficiency, volume, impactful plays, and quality competition. All Division III football players are eligible for selection. The main metrics in the calculation are Total Adjusted Yards per Play (TAYP) and Yards Above Replacement Player per Game (YARP/G).

Coaches of the year are selected based on the overall success of their team, by how much they improved this season, and by how far they exceeded preseason expectations.
